Frequently Asked Questions

How do I begin using your services

Please visit our Contact page or call us at 410-580-9100. We will have our staff come to your home and conduct a free, no obligation assessment. We will then, at your direction, identify caregivers who have the skills, personality and availability to assist you. You then will be able to meet the caregiver and if you approve, they will begin working for you.

What are your rates and minimum hours of service

Each patient has a unique set of care needs. The exact cost of care must be determined after an initial free in-home care consultation with one of our case managers. For more information, call 410-581-9100 or e-mail us.

If I do not qualify for any waiver programs, may I still use your service

What is the Medicaid Waiver for Older Adults program

The Medicaid Waiver for Older Adults is administered by the Maryland Department of Aging. Under the Medicaid Waiver, the federal government “waives” the requirement that services be provided in a nursing facility. The waiver pays for home and community based services for eligble senior adults.

What happens if my caregiver is sick or goes on vacation

We have a database of excellent caring caregivers in your area that are ready on a moments notice in case of sickness or emergency. We receive advanced notice of any vacation requests, so that is not usually an issue.

Do I pay the caregiver

No, Absolute Home Health Care pays the caregiver. We handle all employee expenses, payroll, state and federal taxes, liability insurance, and workers’ compensation insurance. We oversee all administrative responsibilities including scheduling.

Do your caregivers undergo any training, or hold any special certifications

Each caregiver participates in our initial training and continues with our onsite training visits. This program covers the most practical topics and situations encountered in home care. All caregivers are certified and trained in CPR and First Aid.

How long does it take to get a caregiver

That depends on your schedule. We will meet with you for an initial interview to assess your needs. After we fully understand what you are looking for, we can place a caregiver within a very short period of time.We are continuously interviewing, qualifying, and training caregivers to be sure we can meet your individual needs.

Why should I use Absolute Home Health Care rather than paying someone directly

Our caregivers are thoroughly screened, trained, bonded and insured, thus limiting your exposure to possible fraud, theft, work-related injuries, unemployment claims, and employee tax evasion. We strive to maintain the highest level of continuity of service for each client.

Who needs in-home care

In-home care is typically recommended for older adults who live alone and need additional help with their daily living activities and prefer to stay at home rather than being institutionalized or live with relatives. In other cases, it could be people whose family caregiver needs a respite or time off from their care-giving responsibilities.
